Reproductive Science Center of New Jersey (RSCNJ) is proudly leading the way with infertility surgery. We help our patients understand all of their options and use surgical treatments when they and their doctor decide that it will provide the best results.
For some women surgery can remove the structural obstacle that is preventing natural pregnancy and birth, curing infertility. For others, a specific surgical treatment can increase their chances of pregnancy, either naturally or in conjunction with other treatments such as in vitro fertilization (IVF). For example, we often advise surgical correction of certain fallopian tube problems such as hydrosalpinx before beginning IVF.
Several infertility issues respond to different treatments such as lifestyle changes, medication and surgery. For some women, surgery can result in pregnancy sooner than with another treatment.
Whenever possible, RSCNJ utilizes minimally invasive surgery (MIS) techniques such as laparoscopy (see below) to correct conditions causing infertility. Laparoscopy and robotic surgery, which is another form of MIS RSCNJ performs with the da Vinci surgical system, are well suited to the types of surgeries to correct fertility problems because they enable the surgeon to perform complex techniques in very small areas with the aid of video magnification and special instruments.
Laparoscopy is also an excellent diagnostic tool, allowing the surgeon to enter the woman’s pelvic region and visually identify or confirm the structural problem. The surgeon can then correct the situation during the same procedure.
RSCNJ uses surgery to treat uterine fibroids, endometriosis, uterine polyps, anatomical issues, fallopian tube dysfunction and other issues. Common infertility surgery services include the following options:
Robotic myomectomy is a minimally invasive robotic surgical technique that removes uterine fibroids. Uterine fibroids can contribute to pelvic pain, vaginal bleeding or infertility. This procedure is the most effective and least invasive method for uterus and fertility preservation in surgical treatment of uterine fibroids.
Our doctors at RSCNJ specialize in non-invasive hysteroscopic surgery. Hysteroscopy checks the size, shape and lining of the uterus to diagnose and treat fibroids, intrauterine adhesions or scarring that can cause infertility or miscarrigaes in women.
Laparoscopy is an outpatient surgical procedure to treat the following: endometriosis, ectopic pregnancy, pelvic scarring and adhesions, uterine fibroids, ovarian cysts and tumors, and blockages in the fallopian tubes. All of these diagnoses can cause infertility in women.
Our fertility specialists offer the most advanced surgical option possible by using minimally invasive da Vinci robotic surgery and laparoscopy. Robotic surgery is used in women with infertility as an effective uterine fibroid treatment.
