IVF Cost
When a patient or couple is considering using assisted reproduction technologies (ART) to have a baby, there are many things to consider. In addition to the physical, mental and emotional tolls that infertility treatment can cause, there is the financial aspect to consider. Insurance coverage may be limited or non-existent and in vitro fertilization (IVF), and other fertility treatments can be costly.
The Reproductive Science Center of New Jersey (RSCNJ) strives to make IVF affordable and available to every patient. RSCNJ works with a number of organizations to help with the cost of fertility services.
What factors into the cost of IVF?
IVF is not a single treatment but rather a series of procedures that involve fertility specialists, nurses and reproductive laboratory specialists. The cost of IVF can vary from one patient to the next. This is because there are many factors that can influence the cost, including:
- The age of the patient
- Insurance coverage
- Cost of medications
- Indication for intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI)
- Indication for preimplantation genetic screening or diagnosis (PGS/ PGD)
- Need for donor eggs/sperm or a gestational carrier.
Insurance coverage for IVF
Insurance coverage for infertility treatments can often be incomplete or nonexistent. The Reproductive Science Center of New Jersey accepts most major insurances including Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey.
